RESPONSIBILITIES

Be responsible for the brand operations and overall unit performance of a district of up to 9 Anytime Fitness units. In addition, oversee and manage a secondary role and responsibilities within the company. The following are specific responsibilities of a district manager.

Lead – To ensure that others are inspired to learn more, do more, be more

  • Be the leader that you want your unit managers to be

  • Lead with the company charter, mission, vision, and values with everything you do

  • Address issues in the district with respect and empathy

  • Demonstrate integrity

  • Work on improving your leadership skills every day

Staff – To make sure that all units have the appropriate levels of trained staff

  • Determine and follow the ideal and actual staffing levels

  • Oversee and execute staffing plans with the unit manager

  • Hire management-level personnel

  • Discipline, reward, and recognize management-level personnel

  • Ensure the proper discipline process is followed by unit managers in a consistent manner with team members

Develop – To ensure that the team in your district has the training and capability to succeed at their job.

  • Oversee and execute training and onboarding plans per each unit

  • Have a development plan for all unit managers in the district

  • Work with training locations to assist in unit manager onboarding

  • Ensure staff are properly trained by the unit manager

Plan – To prepare, execute, and present a well-thought-out plan to achieve strategic and financial results in all units

  • Participate and assist with executing the Annual Business plan

  • Participate and execute a District plan by unit

  • Report updates, outcomes, challenges, and needs

Maintain – To ensure units and equipment are well-maintained and operational

  • Ensure the unit task management list is being followed by the unit manager and team members at the location

  • Ensure the repair and maintenance policy is being followed

  • Oversee and execute the annual maintenance plan

Market – To own the Local Store Marketing (LSM) efforts in the district

  • Develop and execute an LSM plan with unit managers

  • To reach out to the local community and chamber to find opportunities to integrate and participate in conjunction with the unit manager to drive lead generation and community engagement

  • Propose LSM ideas

  • Oversee and ensure unit managers execute the unit marketing plan

Evaluate – To evaluate the business to determine where your District is and what needs to change to arrive at where it needs to be in the future

  • Review reports and KPIs

  • Conduct brand operations evaluations in all units once per month

  • Conduct a safety inspection once per quarter in all units

Follow-up – To do the necessary follow-up to ensure that the tasks, policies, and procedures are being followed per company and brand standards

Collaborate – To accomplish the company’s objectives and mission

Routines – To execute the position of district manager in the most effective way to drive unit and member performance.


DIRECT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sales growth

  • Labor and product/service cost control

  • Staff (levels, turnover, training & morale)

  • Oversee customer service metrics (Medallia)

  • Brand operations and unit standards

  • Oversee fire and safety compliance, MSDS, and EAP

  • Employee feedback survey

  • Results reporting and daily follow-up with units

  • Conduct structured unit visits

  • Document every unit visit and provide feedback to the unit manager

  • Assist with unit takeovers

  • Assist with new unit openings

  • Cover shifts when needed (missing unit manager or emergency)


SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS

  • 45-50 hours per week – 5 to 6 days per week
  • Work at least 1 evening per week and 2-weekend dates per month to do effective unit visits (mix up times/days of visits)

  • Visit units at least 1x per week

  • General hours are 11am-7pm Mon-Wed, 10am-6pm Thurs-Fri and 10am-2pm weekends (when applicable)


NECESSARY SKILLS

  • Strong leadership skills, prior successful management and customer service experience, prior successful sales experience in the fitness industry, brand knowledge, ability to master operational excellence, highly organized, self-motivated, disciplined, collaborative, objective, flexible work schedule, adept at teaching/coaching, quick learner, franchise knowledge, genuine and honest. Being tech-savvy is crucial, including proficiency with computers, MS Office, email, POS systems, iPad, Google Docs, apps, and other necessary technology to execute the job efficiently.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A college degree is required, and a 4-year degree is highly preferred

  • Successful work experience in the fitness industry is required

  • 5 years’ experience in sales, customer service, and management with a successful track record in sales performance and building a winning team

  • Annual continuing education credits and corporate training required

  • AED & CPR certification required (we will provide if needed)

  • Personal training certification is required within 6 months

  • Personal and group training experience is highly preferred

  • Successful work experience and a track record of managing and inspiring others to perform at their best is required
