About the role
The Director of Operational Risk will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the operational risk framework across the organization. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills to ensure the company's operations are resilient and compliant with regulatory requirements.
More specifically we are a denovo Mortgage Insurance Company and the person in this role will be responsible for managing counterparty communications as well as counterparty risk review and monitoring. This role will also focus on counterpary performance analytics and reporting, Agency guideline management, guideline setting and training, and Agency reporting.
What you'll do
Risk Management Framework: Develop and maintain a comprehensive operational risk management framework, including policies, procedures, and risk assessment methodologies.
Risk Identification and Assessment: Identify, assess, and monitor operational risks across all business units, ensuring timely mitigation strategies are in place.
Incident Management: Oversee the investigation and resolution of operational risk incidents, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions are implemented.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of changes and trends.
Reporting: Prepare and present regular risk reports to senior management and the board of directors, highlighting key risk exposures and mitigation efforts.
Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs to enhance risk awareness and promote a risk-aware culture within the organization.
Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including IT, Legal, Compliance, and Internal Audit, to ensure a cohesive approach to risk management.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance the effectiveness of the operational risk management program.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in operational risk management, preferably within the financial services or mortgage insurance industry.
