St. Joseph Catholic Parish, Cockeysville, seeks a dynamic Coordinator of Family and Children's Ministry to lead our children in Pre-K through 5th grade. This full-time position will help fulfill our mission as a beacon of faith, worship and witness within our vibrant and diverse community of 3,000 families. You'll develop engaging Sunday classes,
oversee Vacation Bible School and Children's Liturgy of the Word, and build a passionate volunteer team. The role includes partnering with our Sacramental Prep Coordinator on First Reconciliation/Communion, collaborating with our National Blue Ribbon school, and working with CYO programs. The ideal candidate brings enthusiasm for children's ministry, creative teaching approaches, leadership skills, and digital savvy. Bachelor's in Theology/Religious Studies required. Essential Functions
- Develop and implement innovative faith formation curriculum for Sunday morning classes that inspire young hearts and minds
- Create and oversee engaging programs including Vacation Bible School, Children's Liturgy of the Word, and family-centered faith activities
- Build and inspire a dream team of volunteers who share your passion for nurturing young disciples
- Create sacred spaces where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn about Jesus
- Equip parents with practical tools to become confident spiritual guides for their children
- Plan and lead family ministry events to foster community among both parents and children
- Partner with our Coordinator of Sacramental Prep on preparation for Baptism, First Reconciliation, and First Communion
- Work with the CYO Coordinator in the development of soccer and basketball as an evangelization tool
- Partner with the Director of Outreach to plan service projects that help little hands make a big difference in our community
- Collaborate with our National Blue Ribbon parish school to create seamless faith formation experiences for students Pre-K through 8th grade
- Supports all policies and procedures related to protection of children and parish safety and security plans.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Theology or Religious Studies required
- Minimum of 3 years work experience in a church or school setting required
- Must be a practicing Catholic and demonstrate an active commitment to the Church's mission and to the sharing of that mission with children and youth.
- A contagious enthusiasm for sharing faith with children and families
- Creative approaches that make Catholic teachings come alive for young minds
- Leadership skills that inspire and empower volunteers in our diverse community
- Digital savvy to engage today's families through modern communication channels
