What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian for Parishes (NE) position at AOB?
Holy Family Parish, Davidsonville, seeks candidates for a part-time Maintenance Worker-Custodian. The Custodian helps to oversee and perform routine maintenance of parish buildings and property. This position reports directly to the Facilities Manager and works collaboratively with other facilities staff. This is a 19 hours per week position, working Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Essential Functions
- Operate janitorial equipment including vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners, pressure washers, professional steamer, leaf blowers, etc.
- Fill in for custodial staff when they need time off
- Perform custodial related duties necessary to maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions.
- Clean meeting rooms, remove trash and recycle, sweep, mop, vacuum.
- Clean social hall and kitchen once a week.
- Clean all interior stairwells.
- Clean trash cans periodically.
- Rake leaves around exterior HVAC equipment and in the grotto
- Clean windows, glass partitions, or mirrors, with power washer, sponges, or squeegees.
- Replace burnt-out light bulbs and ballasts.
- Inspect and Replace emergency lights and signs.
- Replace washers in sinks that drip.
- Replace toilet flusher’s as needed. Repair clogs.
- Clean outside housing on HVAC equipment in warm months when A/C is operational.
- Maintain exterior buildings, maintain interior hallways, basic plumbing, offices, proper floor upkeep.
- Change water filters throughout campus building as well as maintain all water coolers.
- Apply paint and other material to interior and exterior surfaces as needed.
- Use hand and power tools such as wrenches, dollies, hammers, ladders, vacuum cleaners, mops.
- Remove ice from entry sidewalks and stairs, using snow shovels, or spread snow melting chemicals
- Add conditioning salt at Church and Rectory as needed.
- Some custodial services may be needed at the Church Rectory house.
Position Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid Maryland driver's license with no more than 3 points.
- Previous cleaning experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of safety standards for use of cleaning equipment and products preferred.
Range: $20.00/Hourly
