Archbishop Curley High School is hiring two full-time Custodians to work as part of the facilities staff. The Custodians will work as a member of a team to ensure that high standards of cleanliness and hygiene for staff and students are maintained throughout the school. The Custodians must be flexible and able to respond to specific cleaning needs in the school. Each Custodian will be responsible for an area and will be expected to clean to a standard and per work set schedules to provide a thorough and reliable service to the school. This is a 12-month position.
Essential Functions
- Daily cleaning in line with work schedules as set out by Facilities Director.
- Carry out amended work schedules as required from time to time in response to school events or staff absence.
- To clean, wash, sweep, mop, dust, polish and vacuum clean designated areas to the required standard.
- To ensure that toilets and washrooms are maintained to the required standard of cleanliness.
- Ensure all trash is removed on a daily basis.
- Ensure the various dispensers including toilet roll and paper towels are checked and topped off daily.
- Complete designated ‘deep cleaning’ during school holidays and summer break.
- Assisting at school events.
- Ensure work is completed to a high standard.
- To work as part of a team and contribute positively to the housekeeping team.
- To go about your job duties with a positive and enthusiastic attitude, to be hardworking and conscientious.
- Complete all the required training.
- To wear suitable clothing/uniform and correct PPE as necessary.
- Handle chemicals and cleaning equipment carefully. Use all cleaning materials and equipment according to the task they are intended for and in accordance with Health and Safety policies.
- Ensure all cleaning materials are stored properly when not in use.
Position Qualifications
- Previous cleaning experience preferred.
- Skills: flexibility to deal with the varied requests made daily. Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to relate students and staff. Ability to work as part of a small team on own initiative.
- Personal competencies and qualities: good level of physical fitness, including the ability to lift and carry equipment from place to place. Must be pleasant, friendly, responsible and reliable. Committed to achieving high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
Range: $15.00-18.00, Hourly
