What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Youth Ministry (EX) position at AOB?
Holy Family Catholic Church, located in Davidsonville, Maryland, is seeking an individual to serve as our Director of Youth Ministry. We are seeking candidates to apply who have a passionate love for Jesus, joyful fidelity to the Catholic faith, a heart for youth, a gift for evangelization to conceive a vision for youth ministry here at Holy Family and the leadership and personal skills to make that vision a reality. This is a benefit-eligible position working 30 hours per week.

Our parish’s mission is to form missionary disciples of Jesus Christ who joyfully live out the Gospel. A central focus of evangelization here at Holy Family is ministering to our young people.
The Director of Youth Ministry is responsible for implementing this vision through collaboration with the pastor, parish staff members, an adult core team, peer ministers and the larger parish community with the goal to build a safe and welcoming environment where our young people will encounter Christ and choose to follow Him.
Essential Functions:
Middle School Youth Ministry:
- Develop and support a youth ministry program for youth in Grade 6-8 that evangelizes and forms them as missionary disciples of Jesus Christ.
- Discern, recruit, form, support and collaborate with a Core Team to plan and execute gathering nights and other social faith events and retreats which will lead Middle School Youth to Christ.
High School Youth Ministry:
- Develop and support a youth ministry program for youth in Grades 9-12 that evangelizes and forms them as missionary disciples of Jesus Christ
- Discern, recruit, form, support, and collaborate with a Core Team to plan and execute gatherings to provide opportunities for young people to grow in faith
- Recruit, form and mentor High School Peer Ministers to be witnesses to their faith and grow in their capacity as leaders inside and outside of our parish
Confirmation Sacramental Preparation:
- Facilitate parent, candidate, and sponsor information and formation gatherings
- Coordinate and implement Confirmation Preparation classes and other events, in accordance with the guidelines of the Archdiocese of Baltimore
- Coordinate service activities of candidates
- Seek and form catechists who are convicted of the truth of the teaching of the Catholic Church, to give credible witness to the power of Jesus Christ, and able to effectively form teenagers
- Communicate with candidates, their parents and sponsors the elements and Calendar for Confirmation Preparation
- Be the liaison with the Archdiocese of Baltimore and the Office of the Bishop who will administer Confirmation
- Work with the Virtus Screening Coordinator to ensure all adults working with the youth are properly trained and screened
- Work with the Pastor and other staff/volunteers in the formation of Peer Ministers
- Communicate to staff and parish about Confirmation activities and engage the parish in prayer for support for our Confirmation candidates
- Assist with the preparation for the Rite of Confirmation Mass
- Meet regularly with the Pastor about the status and needs of the process
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Education, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Other life experience is acceptable in place of formal theological study
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in youth ministry or related roles
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to engage and inspire youth and volunteers
- Experience in planning and executing large-scale events and programs
- Practicing Catholic preferred
- Is an intentional disciple who possesses a deep faith which recognizes their own need for growth and a sense of self-worth that comes from being a child of God and a minister second
Range: $25, Hourly
Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
