AOC has an immediate need for a Production Area Leader at the Valparaiso, Indiana plant.
Summary
The Production Area Leader will direct the activities of four production shifts in a high-performance team environment. They will set goals and guide the shift teams in achieving these goals in the areas of productivity, quality, safety and housekeeping. This position will ensure that the shift teams maintain a focus on meeting all customer needs and requirements. They will provide ongoing organizational development to promote an atmosphere of continuous improvement in the performance of the Production area.
Human Resource Supervision/Personnel Development
- Recruits, identifies, and hires qualified employees into the organization
- Develops and implements employee training plans
- Ensures adequate staffing to support the Production schedule and meet customer demand
- Develops, interprets and implements policies
- Coaches and counsels employees toward the goal of outstanding job performance
- Implements positive discipline when required and ensures that personnel issues are handled promptly
- Manages in a way that maintains non-union status while still accomplishing the goals of the business
Productivity, Quality and On-Time Performance
- Monitors the operating and cycle efficiencies of the batch reactor and formulating processes
- Monitors the execution of the production schedule to maintain on-time performance
- Maintains assigned ISO work instructions and ensures compliance with record maintenance policies
- Coaches the Production Scheduler to ensure effective use of manpower, inventory control and on-time performance
- Works with the Plant Engineer to maintain operational readiness of equipment
- Works with the Technical Leader to improve production efficiencies, processes and product quality
- Communications with the Plant Buyer to maintain adequate inventories of raw materials and supplies
- Communicates the stated goals and objectives of the company to Production shift teams
Plant Housekeeping Standards
- Develops housekeeping standards for the Production area
- Continually monitors the status of housekeeping in the Production area
- Identifies areas where standards are not met and directs improvement activities in those areas
- Ensures that all personnel are equally involved in the maintenance of the facility
- Provides leadership and material support to housekeeping improvement activities
Environmental and Safety Programs
- Participates as an active member of the plant Safety Policy Committee
- Creates and maintains safety policies for the Production area
- Implements safety policies, procedures and improvements
- Monitors compliance with corporate and plant safety and environmental policies
- Coaches and counsels employees to promote safe work practices and discourage unsafe behaviors
- Promotes employee participation and ownership in the environmental stewardship of the plant
Facilitation of Teams in a High-Performance Environment
- Promotes employee participation in solving problems and improving processes
- Identifies areas where problem solving or process improvement teams can be utilized
- Sets team goals and establishes the parameters within which the team operates
- Trains teams in the use of Lean/Six-Sigma techniques
- Provides counseling and direction toward the accomplishment of team goals
- Reports on team activities to the Plant Manager and the plant leadership team
- Promotes employee participation to develop an atmosphere of individual ownership and responsibility in the profitable operation of the plant
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Natural Science or Business Management required
Experience:
- 7 years of total relevant experience
