Synthesis Chemist

Position: Synthesis Chemist
Location: AOC Headquarters | Near Memphis, TN

AOC is seeking a motivated Synthesis Chemist with a B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry to join our innovative team. This role is based at our headquarters near Memphis, TN.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop cutting-edge composite and coating thermoset resins, including (but not limited to):
  • Unsaturated polyester resins
  • Epoxy vinyl ester resins
• Contribute expertise in related chemistries, such as:
  • Urethanes
  • Epoxy resins
  • Phenolics
  • (Meth)acrylates
  • Thermoplastic composites
• Design and execute laboratory experiments to support product development.
• Operate and oversee pilot plant production to scale up innovations.
• Perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds as required.
• Collaborate with chemists, engineers, and others to commercialize products in a variety of markets including building products, transportation, marine and infrastructure.
• Prioritize safety in your work, which includes recognizing hazards, assessing risks, implementing protective measures, and sharing knowledge to ensure the well-being of yourself, your colleagues, and the environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience or familiarity with one or more of the listed chemistries.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to drive product development.
• Excellent teamwork and communication abilities to collaborate across departments.
