What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2ND SHIFT ONLY * Material Handler/Forklift Operator position at AOC Metal Works?
Position Description Summary: AOC Metal Works is a provider of customized stamping and metal fabrication services with three locations in Virginia and one in Tennessee. We specialize in the design and fabrication of custom steel packaging, material handling and storage applications for the housing and transfer of the customer's product throughout the manufacturing process.
Our material handlers play an essential role in logistics and the supply chain as they work to get products from us to the customers that need them. Our material handlers utilize forklifts to pick, sort and place material (sheet metal, finished product, etc.) in a designated location. In most cases, they will palletize and stage material for shipment. Or they will receive and stock the inventory. Attention to detail and precision in picking & putting away is critical for the successful candidate.
Principal Accountabilities: (The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. It is not an exhaustive list of all expectations.):
- Locates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders
- Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock; recording location of inventory
- Documents materials and supplies disposition by recording units delivered and location of units
- Prepares finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product
- Documents product shipment by recording units shipped
- Maintains material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections; making operator repairs
- Willingness to cross train and work in all areas of the warehouse
- Adheres to all company policies and procedures
- Assist with other duties as assigned
Education, Knowledge, Experience and Skills Required for Position:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven work experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Ability to properly operate an RF machine is critical
- 1-3 years forklift experience or certification required
- Able to work in a team-oriented environment that allows for individual differences and provides for individual growth
- Effective organization, scheduling, and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
- Basic language skills. Able to read and comprehend basic instructions and write basic correspondence in English. Able to effectively present information to customers or company staff.
- Must be able to analyze information with a strong attention to detail
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Must possess computer and data entry skills
- Ability to work in a hot/cold warehouse environment
