What are the responsibilities and job description for the NEW Press Brake Operator - 2nd Shift ONLY position at AOC Metal Works?
The press brake operator is responsible for setting up and safely operating a press brake machine to bend, shape, or cut sheet metal components according to blueprints and specifications, ensuring the produced parts meet quality standards by performing necessary adjustments and inspections throughout the manufacturing process. This typically involves tasks like selecting the appropriate tooling, programming the machine, measuring finished pieces, and maintaining the press brake's cleanliness and functionality.
Principal Accountabilities: (The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. It is not an exhaustive list of all expectations.):
- Plans machine operation by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Provide immediate feedback to supervisor on jobs not meeting set-up and/or production standards.
- Loads proper tooling into press brake by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Maintains specifications by observing machine operations, taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming controls, replacing worn tools and adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Must be able to stand and operate machinery for 4 to 6 uninterrupted hours at a time.
- Maintains equipment by performing inspection and maintenance of press machine.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
