Pension Administration Sales Executive

What the day will look like


Aon’s pension administration business is a well-established industry leader and you would be joining a team that is motivated to continue growing the business at a rate that is out-pacing the industry. The sales executive will be responsible for creating external demand for pension administration and will lead our sales efforts on specific opportunities with clients and prospects. The sales executive helps our Aon team develop precisely the right solution to meet each client’s needs.


  • Achieve annual cumulative pension administration sales team goals
  • Help establish and coordinate sales strategy across clients of all sizes
  • Identify and pursue internal and external prospect opportunities
  • Effectively integrate with other Aon sales leaders across practices to identify opportunities and deliver Aon United to prospects
  • Partner with Aon’s Enterprise Client Group to connect our largest Aon clients
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of prospects
  • Effectively introduce lead generation resources at the appropriate time in the selling process
  • Collect and communicate market intelligence on products/services and incorporate it into sales client planning process
  • Creatively eliminate barriers for clients entering new markets; support the team in navigating alternative paths to making the sale
  • Review existing client contracts that are up for renegotiation or require a fee review
  • Draft contracts and work with Aon legal on contract negotiations
  • Work with current teams to develop scope and pricing for large projects
  • Work collaboratively with other Pension Administration Sales Executives
  • Ensure most efficient use of Aon Connect, Aon’s internal CRM/pipeline management tool
  • Regular/minimum of 10-20% travel expected, depending on sales opportunities.


Skills and experience that will lead to success


  • Internal applicants must currently be an Associate Partner or higher
  • Ten plus years of direct experience in the U.S. retirement plan market with demonstrated sales success
  • Established network of contacts—particularly for defined benefit plans, is preferred
  • Proven history of success in establishing and executing a sales strategy
  • Ability to communicate the value of services to clients, deliver insights on how the service will impact the client’s business and effectively close the opportunity
  • Deep knowledge of pension plans and pension-related topics
  • Strong relationship management abilities: Capability to build trusted advisor relationships at multiple levels in a potential client company, including members of the fiduciary, financial and administrative committees who are responsible for retirement plans. Experienced in maintaining productive, internal relationships in order to leverage those resources when necessary.
  • Strong Communication and Project Management skills: Ability to manage multiple, complex sales processes at the same time. Very strong internal and external communication skills, with the ability to listen comprehensively and deliver clear instructions and/or recommendations


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline
  • Advanced Degree is preferred and/or equivalent work-related experience and success

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $175,000 to $220,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.


This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.


Aon offers a comprehensive package of benefits for full-time and regular part-time colleagues, including, but not limited to: a 401(k) savings plan with employer contributions; an employee stock purchase plan; consideration for long-term incentive awards at Aon’s discretion; medical, dental and vision insurance. This role does not accrue vacation. Rather, this role is eligible to take paid time off at the discretion of the employee and management in accordance with company policy and practices. Eligibility for benefits is governed by the applicable plan documents and policies.
