JOB SUMMARY:
The Volunteer Program Manager will develop and administer all aspects of the AOPA Foundation’s High School volunteer program including developing policies and procedures, marketing and promotion, volunteer and school recruitment and training, and program evaluation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Drafts, maintains, and publishes guidelines, best practices, and procedures for volunteer program.
Coordinates with high school curriculum team to develop standardized presentations and maintain curriculum materials. Distributes materials to volunteers.
Recruit and qualify volunteers using a variety of resources and techniques.
Develop and conduct training program for volunteers.
Gathers and maintains information about each volunteer’s skills, availability, and goals; matches volunteers with appropriate opportunities based on this data.
In cooperation with marketing team, develop and execute a marketing plan to promote and expand volunteer program among AOPA members.
Work with internal resources to evaluate, select, and manage volunteer program management software.
Schedules, coordinates, and assigns volunteers to appropriate opportunities using volunteer program management software.
Regularly communicates with volunteers and schools to ensure placement is a good fit for individuals’ skills and goals.
Solicits feedback from volunteers and schools to evaluate program effectiveness. Makes adjustments to program as needed.
Maintains files, records, applications, and other data concerning volunteer program. Regularly tracks and reports program metrics.
Coordinates volunteer recognition and appreciation events and activities.
Communicates with other AOPA departments to identify potential volunteer program growth opportunities.

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
3 years’ experience with volunteer program management.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate and encourage others.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate or bachelor's degree is highly preferred.
Public speaking experience preferred.
CRM or other volunteer management software experience preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position works in an office setting.
Typical working hours are 8:30 am – 5 pm, Monday through Friday, with a one-hour lunch break.
Generally, a climate-controlled environment with occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions when attending aviation related events, including exposure to higher altitudes and confined spaces if in a general aviation aircraft.
This position may require some travel, potentially up to 10% of the time, to various general aviation or industry-related events. Travel is by aircraft (general aviation and commercial) and by road or public transit.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands of this position are typical of a standard office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly be required to:
Sit for extended periods while working at a computer or attending meetings.
Use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
Communicate effectively via email, phone, and in-person, which requires clear speech, hearing, and vision.
Occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 15 pounds, such as boxes of materials or equipment.
Occasionally stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms during the course of normal office activities.

Additional Information:
This position is located at the Frederick, MD location.
The salary range for this position is: $65,000 - $75,000 depending on education and experience.
