Candidates will be expected to learn, understand, and apply fundamental principles of work zone traffic control according to federal standards (2012 MUTCD), state standards (TMUTCD), and industry best practicies. Candidates will learn to set up and maintain traffic control for a variety of day and night time temporary and long-term projects on city, county, and state right of ways. Projects include but are not limited to - flagging operations, lane closures, road closures, and freeway closures. Candidates: Must speak, read, and write in english. Will be expected (after required experience), to take ATSSA 4 hr Flagger Certification Course, and Traffic Control Technician course. Other certifications and trainings may be offered / required. Must be able to lift 65 lbs, and lift 30 lbs repeatedly throughout the work day. WIll be required to go through 2 - 3 day orientation prior to being assigned a trainer. Must have clean driving record going back 3 years, no current tickets or warrants as drivers may have to go inside Ft Bliss at any given time.
Pay starting at $11 p/hr during probationary period (based on having NO experience), increase to $13 p/hr once emplyee takes first on-call as a full driver.
Preferred: TMA experience a plus. ATSSA or TEEX Traffic Control Technician or Traffic Control Supervisor Certification. Spanish speaking / writing / reading a plus. An Equal Opportunity Employer EOE
