Summary
Provides control and security on Apache Junction School District grounds by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors, school employees, and other employees.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with sudden or severe problems involving one or more people.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- To assist the Principal/Assistant Principal in maintaining a safe campus environment for all students, faculty, staff and community members.
- Assists community law enforcement personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities within the school environment.
- Maintains security to all extracurricular school activities and athletics events (dances, ball games, etc).
- Patrols campus and maintain security of all campus buildings.
- Observe and monitor student movement to/from school and during class change.
- Patrols student lunch areas, student bus areas, student/faculty parking lots, and student restrooms.
- Issue parking permits and parking violation notices.
- Reports clean up and repair needs to appropriate personnel.
- Remains aware of surroundings and is attentive to any changes reporting all major problems to appropriate personnel.
- Assists students with minor safety/security problems, i.e., bike thefts, vandalism, etc.
- Detains individuals suspected of engaging in illegal activities for the purpose of apprehending suspects and preventing further illegal activities.
- Checks identification of visitors and strangers on campus. Escorts unidentified people to the office or off school district grounds.
- Occasionally goes off campus to apprehend students who have left campus without permission.
- Communicates school policies and enforcement procedures to student, personnel and visitors for the purpose of insuring their understanding and the potential consequences of violation.
- Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of addressing immediate safety concerns. May assist with first aide in an emergency until paramedics arrive.
