Job Title : Instructional Coach : Math Specialist - Elementary

Location : District Office

Reports To : Director of Educational Services

Salary Range : $46,700 (based on education and experience)

Job Goal

Provide ongoing support to teachers with evidence-based methods, instructional strategies and materials to increase teacher proficiency and student achievement.

Essential Duties and Functions

  • Support teachers through observation and coaching for implementation and facilitation of instruction through : Demonstration lessons with pre and post discussions and analysis Observing classroom practices and gives immediate feedback to refine instructional approaches. Professional Learning Community meetings
  • Provide ongoing support and mentoring for new teachers
  • Provide ongoing support to teachers during curriculum adoptions
  • Identify and monitor key performance indicators for instructional programming and recommend adjustments based on outcomes
  • Support a professional development program in conjunction with the Human Resources Department which supports world class instructional practices in every classroom
  • Effectively plan and deliver staff development as well as attend staff development to stay immersed in scientifically-researched best practice
  • Utilize current technology / computer skills; continuously updates knowledge and skills of leading edge instructional and communication technologies
  • Establish positive relationships and collaborate through open lines of communication with staff and colleagues
  • Assist teachers in aligning their teaching with appropriate standards, curriculum and assessment for elementary level instruction
  • Advocate for the well being of all students by demonstrating practices that build social emotional wellness
  • Skilled at working with others in a professional learning environment, including mentoring and coaching teachers and modeling effective teaching practices
  • If position is grant-funded, perform such other duties and responsibilities to align with program specifics.

  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have a valid Arizona teaching Certificate that meets the Arizona Department of Education certification requirements, including having a valid AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Minimum of five years teaching experience
  • Skilled at working with others in a professional learning environment, including mentoring and coaching teachers and modeling effective teaching practices
  • Self-starter with strong organization and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience working with English Language Learners, students with disabilities, and / or other special populations
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree or BA , with Math approved area
  • Active in school leadership / committees
  • Previous coaching or mentoring experience
  • Experience in the development of and delivery of staff development
  • Various elementary grade level experience
  • Such alternatives to the above required & preferred qualifications as the Superintendent / Designee may find appropriate and acceptable

    Physical Requirements — District Office

    Positions in this classification typically require : stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, sitting, finger or manual dexterity, repetitive finger motion, speaking, hearing, seeing (with correction), focusing ability, or other factors applicable to this job. Employees may be subject to travel, odors, dust, poor ventilation, workspace restrictions, and loud noises. Duties may require employee to drive a vehicle, be exposed to outside weather conditions including extreme heat or cold, wind and rain. Employees may be required to lift or exert up to 30 pounds of force to move objects occasionally, and up to 10 pounds of force to move objects frequently. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
