Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Purchasing/Receiving Clerk to join our team. As a Purchasing /Receiving Clerk, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of inventory into our business. Your role will involve receiving, inspecting, and storing goods, as well as processing orders for shipment. The ideal candidate will have experience in a casino environment, be familiar with ordering and shipping, and possess the physical stamina to lift heavy objects.
SUMMARY:
Under general supervision of the Director of Finance, maintains records of materials in inventory according to established policies and procedures.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year shipping/receiving experience preferred.
· Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with co-workers at all levels.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines.
- Ability to make solid decisions and exercise independent judgment.
· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
· No felony, theft or stealing convictions.
· Tribal preference.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic accounting, math, and record keeping practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation, and basic arithmetic.
- Knowledge of fundamental warehouse or procurement procedures.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety precautions.
- Knowledge of inventory control.
- Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
ESENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual. Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Prepares shipments for postal or commercial conveyance and determines the most economical and efficient shipping method.
- Selects appropriate shipping container and packs items to ensure safe delivery.
- Prepares bills of lading and checks items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct.
- Receives and unloads incoming materials; compares information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment.
- Sorts, counts, packages, labels, insures, unpacks inventory which is shipped or received.
- Inspects shipments for damage or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor and/or purchasing personnel.
- Delivers items to requisitioning departments and obtains authorized signatures for accepted items.
- Traces lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments, initiates proof of delivery documents.
- Prepare routine reports and required documentation and files shipping/receiving records according to established policies and procedures.
- Observes safety rules and ensures and maintains a safe and orderly environment.
- Performs routine clerical duties, including data entry, answering telephones, and assisting customers in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assists in maintaining an accurate and accountable inventory of all shipping and receiving supplies; performs a monthly inventory of supplies.
- Attends and participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
- Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
- Performs other duties as required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.75 - $16.35 per hour
