What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Cost Analyst position at Apache Mills?
The Costing/Business Analyst plays a critical role within the Business Analytics team, which is responsible for managing the standard costing system, analyzing data for the commercial and operations teams, and providing companywide data, reporting, models, and tools to support data-driven decision-making. In this role, you will become a subject matter expert in costing, assist in the costing of new products, and maintain the costing system to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update Bills of Material (BOM) and routings in JDE/costing system to reflect accurate product costing.
- Assist in the enhancement and maintenance of the costing system.
- Complete monthly audits of BOMs, routings, and labor/manning to ensure data integrity.
- Provide cost proformas/quotes to the sales team to support pricing decisions.
- Assist in variance analysis by comparing standard vs. actual costs.
- Develop data models and reports to support business decisions.
- Work closely with finance, supply chain, and operations teams to align costing with business objectives.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or Analytics.
- Experience: 1-3 years in cost accounting, business analysis, or manufacturing finance.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and statistical methods.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (JDE, SAP, Oracle).
