What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bobtail Driver - Fuel position at Apache Oil Company?
At Apache Oil Company, the Bobtail Driver is responsible for ensuring that our products are delivered safely and accurately to customers in a timely fashion. This position will require you to maintain professional composure and provide all customers with the highest level of customer service at all times. Apache Oil Company supports customers on an intra-state basis within a 150 mile radius of Pasadena, TX.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
People
- Maintains regular communication with assigned dispatch representative and ensures that missed calls or messages are responded to in a timely fashion.
- Maintains positive and professional communication with all personnel.
- Communicates with external customers and clients with respect.
- Follows all customer site requirements, connects with appropriate supervisor for all disputes that occur on customer property.
Service
- Daily transport of fuels to assigned routes, discusses concerns or issues with assigned dispatch representative prior to leaving terminal.
- Performs all necessary vehicle inspections prior to leaving terminal and discusses any concerns with dispatch and on-site mechanic.
- Submits delivery tickets to assigned location for timely delivery to Fuel Billing Manager daily.
- Maybe re-routed back to prior delivery location to remove and replace incorrectly handled products.
Quality and Safety
- Safe handling of bulk liquid petroleum products such as gasoline, diesel fuel, and lubricating oils, as per Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as prescribed by the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration.
- Reviews order tickets for products prior to any dispensing of liquids to ensure that proper product is being transitioned into proper reservoir.
- Makes assigned dispatcher aware of any concerns or potential cross-drops immediately.
- Follows all FMCSA regulations, specifically, 49 CFR Parts 383, 387, 390 – 399 and parts 170 through 179.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Fuel assigned truck as needed and reports any problems or issues to assigned supervisor.
- Follows all safety rules while on the job. Report’s accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards.
- Completes required and job-related in-services and applies the information as needed.
Financial
- Uses resources efficiently
- Submits reimbursements in a timely manner when needed.
Education Requirements
- · Highschool Diploma or equivalent – Required
- · Completion of a recognized Professional Truck Driver course from an accredited institution.
Experience Requirements
- · Three years’ verifiable experience as a driver required and
- · One year experience as bulk petroleum liquids driver, preferred
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- · Minimum 23 years old
- · Successful completion of 90 day Driver Trainee program.
- · Current CDL from state of residence with at least “X” endorsement.
- · No DUI/DWI convictions within the past 5 years
- · No Chargeable D.O.T. reportable accidents within the past three years
- · Work closely and effectively with multiple levels of the organization
- · Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- · Ability to read, speak and understand English.
- · Performs other duties as assigned.
