Description
Operate a semi-automatic horizontal pivot band saw ( shop has model HYDMECH S-23P )
Know how to operate an overhead crane 5 ton to 10 ton
Rigging structural material and loading onto saw conveyer that is going to be cut on saw machine
Identifying structural material beam, tubing, angle, pipe, channel, Unistrut, etc.
Measure material being used with a tape measure
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Machine Operators are responsible for the safe and efficient use of manufacturing equipment such as lathes, milling machines, plasma cutter, laser cutters, and grinders within the Piping & Structural Fabrication Departments.
In addition, they will need possess the following skills:
Knowledge of Machine Operation: Understand how to operate the specific type of machine saw being used, including starting, stopping, and adjusting settings for different types of cuts.
Measurement Skills: Accurately measure and mark steel materials according to required dimensions for cutting, using tools such as tape measures, rulers, or calipers.
Monitoring: Continuously monitor the cutting process to ensure proper operation, making adjustments as needed to maintain quality and accuracy.
Troubleshooting: Identify and address any issues or malfunctions with the machine or cutting process, such as blade dullness or material jams.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate machinery such as saws, lathes, milling machines, plasma and laser cutters, and grinders
Operate overhead cranes safely and efficiently
Maintain raw material inventories
Ability to nest work orders to maximize material and machine efficiency
Other tasks as assigned by TAS
JOB SKILLS
Ability to read blueprints and follow product specification instructions
Good command of the English language, both written and verbal is required.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
High school diploma
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Two years fabrication experience
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Forklift certified
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work performed in a shop environment;
Exposed to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable;
Requires normal vision and absence of color blindness
Physical effort equal to frequent moving of up to 50lbs materials;
Regularly required to sit or stand, bend and reach;
The use of Safety Glasses is required;
The use of earplugs is recommended;
Ability to stand up to 10 hours a day (with a lunch in between) and up to 6 days a week;
Ability to work in a non-air-conditioned environment.
