What are the responsibilities and job description for the Die Corrector position at APEL Extrusions?
APEL Extrusions is an independent extruder, finisher and fabricator of aluminum extrusions serving the commercial, residential and industrial markets of Western Canada and the Western United States. We have locations in Calgary, Canada, Coburg, Oregon and Phoenix, Arizona. APEL Extrusions is a fully integrated aluminum extruder.
The Position:
APEL is seeking an energetic, self-starter who prides themselves on their ability to interface with all levels of the company and thrives on providing exceptional customer service even when faced with multiple priorities.
Situated in Coburg, Oregon and serving the requirement of that APEL facility, the Die Corrector will be responsible for ensuring the dies are kept in excellent shape for extrusion and maintaining accurate compliance of the administration of the die process.
Responsibilities Include:
- Polishing dies from caustic.
- Repairing dies that are out of tolerance.
- Managing the caustic tank. Managing rack locations of dies.
- Keeping the die shop organized.
- Updating new dies as they arrive to the plant in the computer program (Epics).
- Monitoring any support tooling for damage.
- Signing for delivery of dies and supplies.
- Helping press personnel with the running of problem dies.
- Pumping spent caustic.
- Proper labeling of waste.
- Proper disposal of waste.
- Keep records of inspections, disposal & pumping.
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
- High School Diploma
- Maintains knowledge of the fundamentals of the extrusion process to help diagnose problem dies.
- Hand tool experience for the working of dies.
- Mill machine experience.
- Hazardous waste management training.
- Demonstrate understanding of handling hazardous waste.
- Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is a desired asset
- Proven experience managing multiple priorities accurately, consistently and expeditiously
- Strong attention to details.
- Ability to work in team environment.
