Apella Wealth has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Director of Integrations, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Operations. We need people like you to join in our commitment to drive pure value for our clients and partners.
As an Associate Director of Integrations, you will be accountable for all aspects of Apella Wealth’s M&A Integration Program. This includes integration team leadership; project management; due diligence review; and oversight of all Integration-related projects. Apella’s highest priority is the seamless integration the operations, clients and employees of selling firms (“Sellers”) acquired through M&A onto the Apella Wealth ecosystem. As a result, the role requires a unique combination of:
a. Sales skills / empathy: Sellers and their clients need consistent counsel and hand-holding as they navigate this significant transition of their most important asset.
b. Operational / HR expertise: A complete integration of the Seller requires deep knowledge across HR, client reporting, technology, trading and other operational aspects of both the Seller and Apella Wealth
c. Project management and oversight: Timely, efficient and accurate execution is paramount.
To be successful in this role you’ll need to work closely with Apella Wealth leadership, external business partners, and internal support teams to successfully move a Seller’s clients, employees, technologies, operations, etc. onto Apella Wealth’s platform. This individual maintains a high degree of grace, professionalism and empathy while working with Sellers through the M&A process, balancing the operational and administrative functions of the role while maintaining a “Sales Mindset”. This role is highly cross-functional, requiring strong relational and change management skills and a solid ability to align teams toward a common goal.
Duties & Responsibilities include:
- Managing the process from the day the Seller signs a Letter of Intent (“LOI”), through deal Closing and then continuously for several quarters post-Closing to complete the integration of Seller’s business onto Apella Wealth’s platform
- Delivering “concierge” service to Sellers, exhibiting relational maturity and responsiveness
- Providing leadership to M&A integration team members, training and delegating issues and projects, as appropriate
- Oversee M&A integration project plans and work with the M&A Project Manager:
- Constructing deal timelines and managing deadlines for all parties (internally and externally) involved in the M&A process.
- Coordinating Apella Wealth’s diligence review process, including the tailoring of due diligence request lists and reviewing of Seller’s provided diligence.
- Providing the M&A Project Manager with guidance and serving as an escalation point.
- Overseeing database integrations (portfolio management system, CRM, etc.) and document migrations
- Communicating and coordinating both within Apella Wealth and other external business partners to smoothly onboard all aspects of Sellers’ business, including clients, employees, operations, technology, etc.
- Reviewing and understanding Seller’s book of business and billing practices and ensuring the accuracy of Run-Rate Revenue calculations
- Identifying and assessing operational misalignment between Apella Wealth and Seller and providing solutions
- Collaborating with custodial partners to complete integration-related action items within agreed upon timelines
- Managing the Client Consent process pre-Closing, including the generation of new client IMAs
- Developing and overseeing onboarding and training for Sellers
- Generating executive team reporting as it relates to M&A integration
- Coordinating with the M&A Project Manager to ensure reverse due diligence is up to date on a quarterly basis
- Running and supervising all Integration calls and meetings (internally and externally)
- Maintaining knowledge of Apella Wealth as it evolves
- Developing and streamlining Apella Wealth’s business processes (operations, procedures, workflows, etc.) to create efficiencies within the M&A integration process
Requirements
- 4 Year College degree in business, finance, economics, or relevant major
- Experience working in the financial services industry (8-10 years)
- Strong verbal skills and ability to communicate effectively
- Detail oriented, strong analytical skills
- Good organization and time management skills
- Able to manage multiple priorities and prioritize effectively
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
Salary : $125,000 - $150,000
