We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Assistant BSA/AML Officer. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to build a career and contribute to the success of a dynamic organization.
What You’ll Do:
As an Assistant BSA/AML Officer at Apex bank, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the bank complies with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations. Working closely with the BSA Officer, you’ll support the implementation and management of the bank’s BSA/AML compliance program. Your efforts will help safeguard the bank and its customers by monitoring suspicious activity, ensuring timely and accurate reporting, and assisting in maintaining robust processes to prevent financial crimes. Responsibilities:
- Transaction Monitoring and Reporting: Review daily transaction activity to detect and investigate unusual or suspicious behavior, including large cash transactions and wires. Assist in preparing and filing suspicious activity report (SAR’s) and Currency Transaction Reports (CTR’s in a timely and accurate manner.
- Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD): Assist on conducting due diligence reviews on new and existing customers to identify high risk accounts. Support ongoing monitoring of customer accounts to ensure compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations.
- Regulatory Compliance Oversight: Assist in ensuring compliance with BSA/AML/OFAC regulations, as well as applicable state and federal laws. Stay informed on regulatory updates and assist in adapting polices and [procedures to meet new requirements.
- Audit and Examination Support:Assist in preparing for internal audits, external audits, and regulatory examinations by gathering required documentation and responding to request. Support the BSA Officer in addressing audit findings and implementing corrective action as needed.
- Recordkeeping and Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized records of all BSA/AML activities including monitoring logs, investigations, and reporting. Ensure all documentation complies with regulatory retention requirements.
- Training and Awareness: Help coordinate employee training on BSA/AML requirements, including identifying red flags, customer due diligence, and transaction monitoring. Act as a resource for staff by answering questions and providing guidance on related matters.
- Program Improvement and Testing: Assist in identifying opportunities for enhancing the bank’s BSA/AML compliance program, including process improvements and technology upgrades.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the BSA Officer, Compliance Team, and other departments to ensure coordinated approach to compliance.
Special Projects: Support special initiatives related to BSA/AML, such as system implementations, policy updates, or targeted compliance projects.

What We’re Looking For:
- * Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration or related field preferred.
- 2 years of experience in bank compliance, risk management, or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of BSA/AML/OFAC Regulations, as well as federal and state banking laws.
- Familiar with regulatory reporting requirements, such as SAR’s and CTR’s.
- Proficiency in using banking software and compliance monitoring systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information effectively.
- Ability to collaborate with multiple departments and work as a team.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or similar certifications are a plus.
