APEX (Apex International Education Partners, LLC) was established in 2011 to recruit, manage and place international students from China into local middle and high schools throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, New York, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and California. Headquartered in Derby, Connecticut USA, APEX serves over 100 partner middle and high schools and over 450 F-1 international students and is growing.
APEX is currently seeking a professional, reliable and dedicated full-time employee to fulfill the position of International (Mandarin) Student Coordinator. The Student Coordinator is an integral member to the overall management of the APEX Homestay & Dormitory Program. By working closely with international middle and high school students from China (ages ranging from 13-20 years old), Student Coordinators ensure students are safe, cared for and adjusting to living with American host families and other dormitory students while successfully attending nearby private American middle and high schools.
This is a year-round position, including summers.
The ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES of the Student Coordinator includes but is not limited to:

Acting as a trusted adviser and consultant for APEX's student clients
•
Monthly in-person visits to nearby APEX partner schools & host families along with one-on-one meetings with students and/or teachers
•
Proactively and independently assisting students with questions while providing academic and cultural suggestions and advice
•
Communicating, providing customer service to Chinese parents when needed.
•
Providing assistance and advice for annual student re-enrollment while maintaining student client retention within APEX's network of partner schools
•
Exercising discretion and independent judgment while acting as a mediator for students and host families as issues arise via phone or in-person house visits
•
Participating in APEX staff and manager meetings with U.S. staff
•
Participating in monthly late evening staff and manager meetings with China staff
•
Promoting APEX Homestay Program on Chinese social media via WeChat and other platforms
•
Assisting, promoting and managing company programs (ISA - International Student Associations, etc.)
•
Handle all student support and administrative responsibilities before, during, after the academic year and during summer months (ie corresponding with students, parents, schools and host families during the summer to prepare students for a seamless enrollment for the upcoming academic year, etc.).
The IDEAL CANDIDATE for this position will possess the following:

Excellent Communication Skills and Customer Service - to local international students, local Chinese & American team members and managers
2.
Excellent Problem Solving & Independent Judgment Skills - toward solving problems case by case in the most expeditious manner possible as to satisfy and manage the expectations of their clients
3.
Teamwork Oriented Spirit - must be able to WORK TOGETHER and THINK TOGETHER with China sales staff and U.S. student support staff while balancing the cultural differences between China and the U.S.
4.
Excellent follow-up skills and attention to detail. Proficient computer skills required.

Must be looking for a full-time (40 hours), year-round (12 months of the year) position, which includes working full-time during the summer months.
QUALIFICATIONS
*Fluency in speaking, reading and writing in English and Mandarin is a must.
*Four-Year Bachelor's Degree (earned in the United States) with focus on Education or related field a must. *Master's Degree or Higher with subject matter expertise strongly preferred.
*Prior experience with international students and education a plus.
*Proficient computer skills required (ie Word, Excel, etc.)
*Willing and able to travel extensively within assigned territory including CT and surrounding states. Travel with employee-owned car required. Mileage reimbursed. Valid CT Driver's license required.
*Willing and able to work full-time and year-round, including summer months.
Work Environment: On-site, 101 Marshall Lane, Derby, CT. Those located close to the Derby, CT office preferred.

*Full-Time, salaried, exempt, starting at $50,000/year
