Job Summary: Apex Recovery is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team. The Medical Assistant will work closely with our medical and clinical staff to provide exceptional care to clients undergoing substance use and mental health treatment. This role involves both administrative and clinical responsibilities to support efficient healthcare operations and ensure clients receive the highest quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Assist nurses and medical providers with client examinations, procedures, and treatments.
- Obtain and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates.
- Administer medications as directed by medical staff.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
- Perform routine diagnostic tests and EKGs.
- Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and properly sterilized.
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule client appointments and coordinate follow-ups.
- Document client interactions, medical history, and treatment plans in electronic health records (EHR).
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, adhering to HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.
- Assist with insurance verification and medical billing processes.
- Communicate with pharmacies regarding prescription refills and client medications.
Qualifications:
- Medical Assistant certification (CMA or RMA) required.
- High school diploma or GED; additional education in healthcare or related fields preferred.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, ideally in behavioral health or substance use treatment.
- Proficiency with EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
