DUTIES:
- To assist in the collection and review of infection surveillance information and the education of staff on Infection Control issues.
- Assess Infection Control needs prior to admission in an effort to meet and/or determine Infection and Control criteria.
- Manage a facility wide program to meet the Infection Control needs of resident/patient, visitor and staff
- Establish surveillance objectives to ensure patient safety
- Implement Performance Improvement initiatives based on identified Infection Control needs.
- Provide Infection Control orientation
- PPD administration
- Training while demonstrating knowledge
- Plan and direct an Infection Control Program that is appropriate to the demographics of the organization and fulfill regulatory requirements.
- Collect and analyze surveillance information and develop objective to reduce risk for trends in and rates of epidemiologically
- Education Responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs to train and maintain the competency of nursing staff, focusing on geriatric care practices, by providing ongoing training on resident care procedures, new policies, and best practices to ensure quality patient care within the facility's standards, often acting as a mentor and role model for other nurses.
- Delivering in-service training sessions, workshops, and hands-on demonstrations on clinical skills, new equipment, and policy updates. Assessing staff competency through observation, skills checks, and clinical evaluations to identify areas for improvement.
