Job Title: Data Center Technician
Location: New Albany, OH
Schedule: 8a-5p local time. Possibility of nights/evenings/weekends support for "burst labor" needs.
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficiency in server operating systems such as Linux or Windows is crucial
- Understanding of X86/X64 server hardware and components, including storage, and the ability to understand and diagnose hardware repairs including root cause analysis, taking that information to produce a permanent fix
- Knowledge of data center functions and technologies such as electrical, cooling, structured cabling, and general networking is essential
- Past Data Center hardware installation experience
Ideal Skills:
- Familiarity with OCP (Open Compute Project) modular hardware including hardware sleds, server cards, device cards
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
- Ability to use provided dashboards and core metrics information to drive server uptime and utilization rates, understanding hardware failure rates and service level agreements
- Ability to recognize patterns and triage escalations back from the break/fix team within their first two diagnoses. If the third diagnosis is escalated, that escalation would go back to FTE.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
- Effective communication skills, clear and concise, appropriately tailoring messages to the audience
Experience Requirements:
- 3 year’s experience in physical hardware troubleshooting
- 2 years experience within a data center environment
- 3 year’s experience in Linux OS administration
