Apex Systems is seeking an EHS Manager to join our client, an innovative leader within the autonomous vehicle industry. This is a full-time/direct hire position with our client. It will be hybrid, 3-4 days a week onsite and 1-2 days a week remote. Person can be onsite in either Atlanta, GA or Austin, TX.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to lead our safety initiatives in the transportation industry. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive EHS programs that protect our employees and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will combine a strong background in EHS-specific program and process development and management with excellent leadership and communication skills to foster a culture of safety across our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop & Implement Safety Programs:
- Design, maintain, and enforce comprehensive environmental, safety, and compliance programs that adhere to regulatory standards.
- Continuously review and improve policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry regulations.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to implement all necessary EHS programs and ensure stakeholder requirements are met or exceeded.
Conduct Audits & Risk Assessments:
- Perform regular inspections and audits of facilities to identify potential hazards and deficiencies.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and job safety analyses and develop strategies to mitigate identified risks.
- Oversee corrective actions to ensure all safety concerns are promptly addressed.
Training & Employee Engagement:
- Develop and deliver engaging safety training sessions and awareness programs for employees at all levels.
- Provide ongoing coaching and support to encourage adherence to established safety protocols.
- Promote a proactive safety culture by actively involving staff in continuous improvement initiatives.
Incident Management & Reporting:
- Lead the investigation of workplace incidents, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, incidents, and compliance activities.
- Prepare and present regular safety performance reports to senior management.
Collaboration & Compliance:
- Serve as the primary contact for EHS matters, collaborating with internal teams and external regulatory agencies and partners.
- Ensure all transportation operations comply with relevant EHS regulations, industry best practices, and partner requirements.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate safety measures into all aspects of the organization’s processes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an EHS role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity—experience in the Autonomous Vehicles (AV) industry is preferred
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct risk assessments, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Experience working in the technology sector and can thrive in extremely fast-paced environments.
- Experience in the automotive and transportation industry. Experience with autonomous vehicles preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven leadership and team management abilities.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)) are highly desirable
Salary : $120,000 - $140,000
