Summary:
The Liaison Engineer will support commercial derivative airplane programs in San Antonio, TX. This role requires individuals who can make quick engineering decisions and are eager to engage in hands-on engineering within the factory environment. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are essential, as you will partner closely with production personnel.
Responsibilities:
- Apply broad knowledge of airline design and engineering principles.
- Assess and resolve product/process issues throughout the product lifecycle.
- Lead research on technical, operational, and quality issues, designing interim and final engineering solutions.
- Conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for design non-conformances.
- Develop and implement product/process improvements.
- Use innovative approaches to address complex nonconforming conditions and detect deviations.
- Analyze reported problems for potential safety issues; recommend and manage complex resolutions.
- Provide design phase expertise by supporting Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and participating in design reviews.
- Represent the engineering community in the build through post-production environment.
- Ensure supplier and build partner compliance with airline standards.
- Develop customer correspondence for the continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Lead activities for on-site disabled product repair teams and accident investigation/support teams.
- Design appropriate jacking and shoring schemes; lead the design of interim structural repairs and conduct static strength analysis.
- Develop and lead non-destructive test procedures, tools, and standards.
- Develop and implement technical training curriculum for internal or external customers.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Engineering degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- 5 years of experience with the design of structural and electrical rework/repairs to restore the aircraft or system to original design capability.
- Previous Commercial Material Review Experience with Boeing or Airlines.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience in reading/creating engineering drawings, specifications, processes, and design manuals.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience with avionics systems troubleshooting, wire bundle installations, and aircraft electrical systems troubleshooting.
- Experience in researching engineering designs to develop defect solutions for production or simple technical in-service issues.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in assisting with analyses, root cause analysis, and drafting dispositions for non-conformances.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in collecting, researching, and evaluating issues for product/process improvement opportunities, including recurrent product issues.
- Materials Review Board (MRB)/Universal Product Review (UPR) approval authority certification.
- Executive interior installation/design experience.
- Modification and repair experience on wide-body aircraft.
Education/Experience:
- Must have an Engineering degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- Bachelors degree with 9 years related experience, Masters degree with 7 years, or PhD with 4 years related work experience
Shift Requirements:
- Must be available for all shifts, including 4th shift rotating (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) as well as weekend or daily overtime.
