JOB DESCRIPTION

Apex is seeking a Managing Consultant in our US & Canada practice within the Solutions Delivery organization. The Managing Consultant role requires a very strong, highly experienced executive level consulting professional who has the demonstrated skills and ability to sell and deliver consulting services to enterprise level clients in the Data Governance domain.

This role will be responsible for selling and subsequently executing executive level, high value consulting services, and will be instrumental in developing future business within one or more accounts. This role will also provide subject matter expertise within the Solutions Delivery organization and will help to enhance the depth and breadth of the knowledge and skills within the Solutions Delivery organization. This role works directly with Account Managers, Engagement Managers, Client Directors, and Solutions and Practice Consultants to develop, propose, sell, and deliver Data Governance solutions for our government clients.

You will be a part of the proposal and delivery teams for technology services engagements by partnering with clients

to define their technical vision and develop the solution, as well as deliver and/or oversee the solution.

• Solutions Delivery Services Sales: Grow and develop Apex Systems' executive-level, high value Solutions Delivery Services sales with Enterprise Level Clients utilizing exceptional skills in consulting, written and verbal communication, relationship-building, presentation, negotiation, interpersonal communication, persuasion, problem solving, analysis, management, leadership, and executive presence.
• Develop strong client relationships as trusted executive advisor. Continually innovate, seek creative solutions, and find new ways of adding value. Listen and seek to understand the client and meet their needs, providing consultative guidance. Stay attuned to the future needs of the client and work with internal resources to identify opportunities. Proactively provide solutions and approach adversity with a solution-focused mindset.
• Executive Level, High Value Consulting: Meet or exceed client expectations in the execution of Solutions Delivery services engagements. Produce high quality deliverables, meet project deadlines, and take responsibility for engagement and team success. Demonstrate a passion for quality and process improvement.
• Serve as a subject matter expert internally and externally. Build trust and respect among internal and external stakeholders and model collaborative teamwork.
• Build strong client, industry, and internal relationships and represent Apex Systems as a leader within Industry and Professional events and communities. Develop and maintain strong internal and external customer relationships.
• Collaborate internally with Apex Account Teams, Solution Leaders, Industry Leaders, Practice Leaders, and others to develop Apex Solutions Delivery Services business.
• Lead team members and direct reports to Lead the development, growth, and success of your team, developing professionals for the next stage of their careers.
• Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility to acquire skills to meet business needs.
• Participate in sales pursuits. Continually innovate, seek creative solutions, and find new ways of adding value. Listen and seek to understand the client and meet their needs, providing consultative guidance. • This role may be responsible for managing hybrid project teams consisting of Apex Contact Employees, Internal Apex employees, client employees and external vendors.
• Lead data governance assessments, identifying gaps and defining roadmaps to improve data quality, security, and compliance.
• Develop and implement data governance frameworks, including policies, standards, and best practices for metadata management, data lineage, and access controls.
• Define data stewardship and ownership models, ensuring clear accountability for data assets across business and IT teams.
• Advise clients on data cataloging, classification, and regulatory compliance (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.).
• Implement governance tools and technologies (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation, Microsoft Purview, or Palantir Foundry) to streamline governance processes.
• Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to ensure governance policies support data democratization while maintaining security.
• Conduct workshops and training sessions for stakeholders, driving adoption of governance frameworks and best practices.
• Lead thought leadership initiatives, contributing to whitepapers, presentations, and industry events to establish the firm's expertise in data governance.
• Mentor and develop junior consultants, fostering a strong data governance skillset within the practice.
• Identify opportunities to expand governance service offerings, aligning with evolving industry trends and regulatory requirements.
• Stay informed of advancements in data governance, data privacy, and AI ethics, integrating them into client solutions.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• 10 years of experience in delivering professional services, including 8 years in Data Governance, Data Management, or Enterprise Data Strategy, with a strong consulting background.
• Proven experience owning executive level, high value consulting services sales.
• Exceptional skills in consulting, written and verbal communication, negotiation, interpersonal communication, persuasion, problem solving, analysis, management, leadership, and engagement delivery.
• Bachelor's Degree in related field; Master's Degree preferred.
• Proven expertise in data governance frameworks, policies, and best practices, including data stewardship, metadata management, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience implementing governance tools and technologies (Collibra, Informatica, Alation, Microsoft Purview, etc.).
• Strong understanding of data privacy laws and compliance (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.).
• Ability to lead client-facing engagements, conduct governance assessments, and drive adoption of governance solutions.
• Exceptional presentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage both technical and executive audiences.
• Experience supporting business development, pre-sales efforts, and practice growth within a consulting environment.
• Knowledge of data architectures, data modeling, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and how governance integrates with these environments.
• Proven success in a data assessment, data analyst, data scientist, or data engineering role (at least 1); bonus for additional experience as a data or solution architect implementing a leading data governance or management platform
• Proven success leading a business facing technical team in a Fortune 500 environment or with a consultancy; note - alternative leadership experience, aptitude, and skills may be acceptable
• Strong understanding and application of data management and responsible AI principles; relevant certifications from DAMA or EDM Council or equivalent community
• Certifications in data governance, data privacy, or related tools (e.g., DCAM, CDMP, Informatica / Collibra / Alation / Purview / etc.) preferred.
• Background in AI governance and responsible data usage policies preferred.
• Prior experience managing data governance programs at an enterprise scale preferred.
• Technical and executive assessment and advisory capabilities preferred.
