JOB DESCRIPTION

Apex is seeking a dynamic Senior Lead Consultant with strong consultative skills to serve as a hands-on technical leader with a background as an AWS Solution Architect in the US & Canada practice within Apex Systems Solutions Delivery Organization. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the design and implementation of a modern AWS Organization and have a passion for the Java tech stack and products. There are many hats you may wear as you lead clients whose ecosystems is mainly in the Java tech stack but this role is essential for deciphering the existing architecture and designing future architecture, providing thought leadership and guidance to clients, teammates, and other Apex consultants. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with AWS cloud solutions and a strong background in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) or willingness to learn quickly and be adaptable in various environments. This role will also provide technical subject matter expertise. Additionally, this role will be responsible for client deliverables as well as internal leadership of technical consulting professionals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Partner with stakeholders to reverse engineer the existing AWS Organization.
• Analyze the IaC code utilized and map the requirements to a new AWS Organization.
• Aid in the Organization build-out following proper AWS best practices.
• Design a plan to decompose a large monolithic ERP into microservices according to domain driven design exercises.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the target architecture meets business and technical requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.
• Build strong internal and external customer relationships.
• Demonstrate expert-level technical knowledge and implementation skills. Serve as a subject matter expert. Build trust and respect among internal and external stakeholders and model collaborative teamwork.
• Work with non-technical stakeholders to translate functional requirements to detailed technical tasks for the development team to implement.
• Demonstrate a passion for quality and process improvement. Work with the development team to succeed.
• Demonstrate professional-level consulting skills, leadership skills, and communication/presentation skills. Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility to acquire skills to meet business needs.
• Participate in supporting sales pursuits by providing technical guidance, estimates, scoping and other pre-sales activities. Continually innovate, seek creative solutions, and find new ways of adding value. Listen and seek to understand the client and meet their needs, providing consultative guidance. Stay attuned to the future needs of the client and work with internal resources to identify opportunities. Proactively offer solutions and approach adversity with a solution-focused mindset.
• Identify and evaluate new team members through professional networking and technical screening.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• 10 years of Software Development and Engineering Experience (SDLC).
• 6 years of hands-on experience in AWS architecture.
• 5 years of hands-on experience in Java and UI frameworks ex. React or Angular.
• Must be willing to be a player/coach.
• Proven experience as an AWS Solution Architect or similar role.
• Strong understanding of AWS services and best practices.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
• Proficiency in designing and implementing secure, performant AWS environments.
• Experience decomposing monoliths into event driven microservices architectures.
• Experience working with business stakeholders to implement Domain Driven Design.
• Experience in setting up new Organizations with new security requirements and networking configurations.
• Quickly deciphering current state and envisioning future state architectures.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills and growth mindset.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, navigating high pressure, challenging situations professionally and with poise.
• Previous client-facing/consulting experience preferred.
• Experience with large-scale data migrations preferred.
• Certifications in AWS (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect Professional) preferred.
• High level of independence and autonomy required.
• Positive relationship builder, able to navigate through complex situations to ensure the most robust and pragmatic solution.
• Strong problem solving skills, analytical skills and the aptitude to quickly identify gaps and risks.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including presenting complex concepts to engineering, business partners.
• BA/BS preferred in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related fields (applicable education and experience may be substituted).
