Role: Sr Business Analyst
Location: Hybrid - 2 days/week onsite in greater Lansing area
Duration: 12 month contract
Job Summary:
Collaborate with Product Owners to enhance the value delivered to Business units. Act as a liaison between the Product Owner and Agile Team, eliciting requirements and creating agile user stories while providing technical analysis and alternative Business solutions. Perform testing of agile user stories and support the implementation of system changes. Lead and coordinate the mentoring and training of the Business Analyst Team on topics such as Business processes, Business Analyst skills and techniques, and agile methodology.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Communicate effectively with Product Owners and Business Users in business language, and with Developers and Testers in technical language. Collaborate with the Product Owner to understand all business processes, procedures, goals, and objectives. Serve as a subject matter expert for two or more domains. Attend and potentially lead requirements meetings with the Business to understand Business priorities. Analyze proposed changes for system impacts, identify issues, and suggest alternatives, considering enterprise-wide impacts. This may include changes to current processes, applications, file layouts, and web services. Determine if process changes will resolve Business needs. Partner with the Product Owner to write clear and concise Agile user stories when technical solutions are required. Break down larger user stories into smaller ones according to departmental standards. Assist the Product Owner in recording priority order to ensure it is done frequently, completely, and in a timely manner. Use understanding of the Customer, the Business, and the domain to aid in decision-making. Attend and engage in daily standup meetings and other agile team ceremonies. Use Business and Customer knowledge to create new test cases beyond the happy path. Follow departmental testing processes to create and document test cases, execute them for assigned stories, verify and report results. Provide feedback to Test Management to improve testing of Enterprise applications. Extract test data from databases by creating or altering complex SQL queries for testing and verification of results. Swarm user stories to help the team meet their sprint commitments. Assist the Product Owner and Scrum Master in preparing for Team Sprint Reviews and System Demos. May lead Review or Demo meetings. Continuously seek ways to improve processes and discuss issues to deliver better value to the customer. Lead initiatives to implement changes or new processes. Mentor and train other team members on agile principles and ensure all business processes are adequately documented.

- Assist with or lead the Business Analyst Community of Practice meetings to drive craftsmanship and continuous learning.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or a related field.
- Five years of experience identifying, organizing, analyzing, testing, communicating, and documenting business rules, system requirements, and process workflows.
- Experience leading projects in an agile environment preferred.
- Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience.
- Experience with Agile methodology (Scrum or SAFe preferred) and tools used to create and track Agile user stories (VersionOne preferred).
- Experience creating, altering, and running SQL queries is a bonus.
- Ability to review software changes and determine system impact.
- Experience with incident/support ticketing systems and process workflow.
- Ability to analyze and resolve problems.
- Flexibility and ability to thrive in a fast-paced and active work environment.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external customers.
