- Develop and operationalize enterprise database migration solutions using Google Cloud Platform native tools (e.g., Database Migration Service) and third-party resources (e.g., Striim, iSpirer).
- Automate database migration processes to achieve optimal performance.
- Conduct full technical discovery, identify pain points, business and technical requirements, and perform proof-of-concept testing for new migration solutions.
- Assist in designing cloud architectures to migrate large-scale enterprise data sets from on-premise or other clouds to Google Cloud Platform.
- Support application teams in implementing off-the-shelf migration tools or developing custom migration solutions.
- Provide migration strategy and best practice guidance to enterprise customers.
- Troubleshoot issues during and post-database migration in collaboration with application teams.
Required Skills:
- Hands-on knowledge of relational and non-relational database concepts, architecture, and standards.
- In-depth knowledge of Google Cloud database technologies (e.g., CloudSQL, Redis, BigTable).
- Proficiency in programming languages: SQL, Unix shell script, PowerShell, Terraform, Go, Python.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Good understanding of Agile development methodologies.
- Ability to present complex database issues to senior IT and non-IT management.
Required Experience:
- 8 years of overall IT experience.
- 5 years of experience in on-prem and cloud-native database design and administration.
- Experience in creating solutions for large data integration/migration.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform databases (e.g., SQL, Spanner, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cloud Bigtable, Firestore, Memorystore, Redis).
- Experience in developing automation solutions (e.g., Terraform).
- Experience in managing and deploying applications in Google Cloud Platform using Terraform and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Tekton, Jenkins).
- Self-starter and problem-solver.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform services (e.g., CloudRun, Pub/Sub, Dataflow).
- Knowledge of industry technology standards, network, and security frameworks/tools.
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Education:
- Cloud Engineer training/certification.
Additional Information:
- Hybrid position, currently 1 day per week in the office.
