What You’ll Do
As an Emergency & Critical Care Technician Assistant, you play a vital role in providing life-saving care and exceptional client service.
Patient & Nursing Care
- Deliver top-tier emergency care, ensuring patients receive rapid and compassionate treatment.
- Use triage protocols to assess and prioritize patients accurately.
- Perform advanced nursing techniques, including IV catheterization, blood collection, central line placement, and CRI calculations.
- Monitor patients closely and update doctors on changes in condition.
- Restrain animals safely to minimize stress while ensuring effective treatment.
Technical Expertise & Medical Procedures
- Assist with diagnostic imaging, anesthesia induction, and monitoring.
- Conduct in-house laboratory diagnostics, including bloodwork and urinalysis.
- Manage critical care equipment, including IV pumps, feeding tubes, and oxygen therapy units.
- Provide wound care, bandaging, and CPR as needed.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work closely with veterinarians and fellow technicians to execute treatment plans efficiently.
- Mentor and train level 1-2 veterinary assistants, fostering growth within the team.
- Participate in daily rounds, case discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Client Communication & Education
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners, updating them on treatment plans and patient progress.
- Present and explain treatment estimates and financial options to clients.
- Provide guidance on at-home care, discharge instructions, and medication administration.
Qualifications
What You Bring to the Team
- Veterinary Technician Experience (3 years preferred)—ER/ICU experience is a plus!
- Strong ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
- Exceptional patient handling and technical skills—you thrive under pressure!
- Clear communication and leadership—mentoring others excites you.
- Adaptability & Problem-Solving—you stay calm and focused in critical situations.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for long shifts, and work overnight/weekend shifts if needed.
