Job Summary:
As a Neurology Nurse at Apex Vets, you will provide outstanding patient care and exceptional client service. You’ll work closely with doctors and shift leaders, thrive in an environment that fosters learning, and have opportunities to mentor newer team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform duties with accountability, aligning with Apex Vets' mission and values.
- Provide compassionate nursing care for surgical and post-op patients.
- Work both independently and collaboratively, coordinating with colleagues.
- Communicate compassionately with clients, including handling patient histories, treatment plans, updates, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Show adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
- Assist with neurological exams, procedures, and treatments.
- Prepare prescriptions and administer treatments as prescribed.
- Perform venipuncture, lab procedures, and prepare specimens.
- Assist in surgical preparation, anesthesia induction, and monitoring.
- Conduct diagnostic studies (radiography, CT, MRI - training available).
- Provide basic care for hospitalized patients, including feeding, walking, and cleaning.
- Perform kennel duties, inventory management, and surgical room preparation.

Qualifications:
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience: Veterinary Nurse experience with a focus on anesthesia and surgery
- Preferred: Neurology experience (not required)
- Skills: Basic customer service and computer skills
Special Requirements:
- Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. Assistance is required for heavier loads.
- Work Environment: Exposure to various risks, including chemotherapy agents, radiation, and infectious animals. Appropriate PPE and safety measures are provided.
Schedule:
- 10-hour shifts, day shifts
- On-call one weekend per month (subject to change based on workload)
- Two holidays in ER per year
- Occasional overtime
Experience Required:
- Neurology: 2 years preferred
- Veterinary Technician: 2 years required (exceptions considered case-by-case)
Salary : $24 - $31
