Job Summary:
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of landfill sites, including waste disposal, compaction, and cover
- placement.
- Develop and implement operational plans to maximize landfill capacity and efficiency.
- Monitor and maintain site equipment to ensure proper functioning and minimal downtime.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and permits.
- Conduct regular site inspections and maintain accurate records for audits and reporting
- purposes.
- Coordinate with environmental agencies to address any compliance issues or concerns.
Staff Supervision:
- Recruit, train, and supervise landfill staff and equipment operators.
- Schedule work shifts and assign tasks to ensure smooth operations.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching or disciplinary action as needed.
Safety and Risk Management:
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to protect staff and the public.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to landfill operations, such as hazardous waste or equipment
- malfunctions.
- Conduct regular safety training and drills for all personnel.
Financial Management:
- Develop and manage budgets for landfill operations, maintenance, and staff salaries.
- Prepare and submit financial reports, including operational costs and revenue.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
Environmental Monitoring:
- Oversee programs for leachate collection, landfill gas extraction, and groundwater monitoring.
- Develop strategies to reduce the environmental impact of landfill operations.
- Coordinate recycling and waste diversion initiatives to extend landfill life.
Community Relations:
- Serve as a liaison with the local community, addressing concerns or complaints related to
- landfill operations.
- Educate the public about proper waste disposal and recycling practices.
- Attend public meetings and present updates on landfill activities as needed.
Other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of three-five years of experience in waste management or landfill operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance standards.
- Proficiency in budgeting, reporting, and operational planning.
- Ability to operate and maintain heavy machinery (required).
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position, Monday through Friday with seasonal weekend work required.
- Primarily outdoor work in a landfill setting, with exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Occasional office work for administrative tasks and reporting.
- Physical demands include standing, walking, and operating equipment.
Compensation & Benefits:
- $80,000 - $85,000 Yearly Salary
