Job Summary:
The Strategic Account Manager (SAM) is responsible for building, maintaining, and expanding relationships with large, complex, and high-value clients. You will be a trusted advisor to our customers, developing strategic plans that align our waste management solutions with their sustainability goals and operational needs. Your focus will be on customer retention, revenue growth, and profitability through consultative selling, value delivery, and superior service coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain deep relationships with strategic accounts, understanding their evolving needs and challenges.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned key clients, ensuring exceptional customer experience and satisfaction.
- Identify opportunities to expand service offerings across waste, recycling, and environmental services.
- Create customized account strategies and business plans to achieve revenue growth and retention targets.
- Collaborate with internal teams (operations, customer service, pricing, legal) to deliver seamless service execution.
- Monitor account performance, including service delivery, contract compliance, and profitability metrics.
- Lead contract renewals and negotiations, ensuring favorable terms for both the client and Apex Waste Solutions.
- Analyze market trends, customer data, and competitor activities to identify threats and opportunities.
- Prepare and deliver quarterly business reviews and strategic reports to key clients.
- Actively contribute to the overall sales strategy and team success.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Environmental Studies, or related field (preferred).
- 5 years of experience in strategic account management, sales, or business development, preferably in waste management, environmental services, logistics, or a related industry.
- Proven track record of managing and growing key accounts with high annual revenue.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to think strategically while managing the details.
- Customer-centric, consultative selling approach.
- Proficient with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to travel up to 50% as required to visit client sites and attend industry events.
Working Conditions:
- This role is a hybrid of office-based work and field work (client site visits).
- May require extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Regular local and occasional regional travel is expected, including driving to customer locations, site visits (which may include industrial, landfill, or outdoor environments).
- Must be comfortable working around industrial waste facilities, recycling centers, or client operational sites, occasionally in varying weather conditions.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to meet client needs or attend industry events.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required during site visits, and will be provided by the company.
Compensation & Benefits:
- $70,000 - $85,000 Yearly Salary
