JOB SUMMARY:
The essential role of the Production Lead is to act as a leader on the production floor, mentoring a team of welders and other production team members in their day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of welding techniques, and an understanding of production workflows. The role is very much a hands-on role requiring strong interpersonal, mentorship and leadership skills, excellent problem-solving abilities and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead and mentor a team of assemblers and production team members in day-to-day operations
Ensure that production schedules are adhered to and that any delays or issues are communicated to the Production Supervisor or Manager in a timely manner
Create production books
Utilize Monday.com to create task lists for production personnel on assigned projects
Ensure adherence to safety protocols, industry regulations and quality control standards
Monitor shop supplies and inform Purchasing Dept. or Supervisor of items that are needed
Conduct Gate 3 production kick-off meetings
Conduct training sessions to enhance the skills of new and existing team members
Collaborate with the Supervisor/Manager to optimize workflows, reduce downtime and improve productivity
Promote a culture of continuous improvement in all aspects of production
Track parts and enter in Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for part needs and communicate ECOs to the Production Coordinator
Conduct morning toolbox talks with production team
Adhere to and support all safety policies and guidelines
Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent
Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and technical drawings
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor others
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
Ability to lift/carry 50 of lbs. and work in varying conditions in a production environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Three (3) years in a production environment
Two (2) years of supervisory/leadership experience
Experience with custom industrial equipment
