Description
The Senior Cost Accountant / ERP Specialist position will manage and/or assist in numerous financial-related tasks. This position will work with individuals from all areas of the company, both domestically and internationally, and will require maintaining high professionalism and work quality.
Senior Cost Accountant:
- Oversee cost accounting system by calculating, maintaining, updating, and validating accuracy of material, labor, burden, and sub-contract rates on product Engineering Masters.
- Prepare an annual review of actual and budgeted standard labor and burden rates to be used for product costing and quotations.
- Work with Operations to track and report on labor efficiencies related to direct and indirect labor.
- Work closely with Product Management to review product pricing that will ensure gross margin expectations are met.
- Help develop enhanced reporting content and mechanisms including, but not limited to, cost components, variances, and pricing.
- Determine and set product family time standards on Engineering Masters. Track and report variance activities and update records as needed.
- Track, review, and report on actual versus budgeted absorption levels related to labor, production burden, and purchase burden.
- Track monthly variance activity related to material usage, labor/overhead, purchase price, sub-contract, etc., and report results. Update the costing system as necessary.
- Reconcile month-end inventory balances by adjusting ledger balances to report valuation. Research any significant differences.
- Reconciliation of other balance sheet accounts, investigate and resolve variances.
- Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement generation.
- Coordinate and help lead the annual physical inventory processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with audit requirements. Review of significant variances and report on results.
- Coordinate periodic slow-moving/obsolete inventory review with appropriate personnel.
- Perform, or assist with, special projects or tasks as directed.
- Assist in cost-improvement initiatives as needed.
- Complete financial analysis projects as needed by management.
- Producing regular financial reports, such as budget or cash flow forecasts
- Suggest, and implement where appropriate, best practices across apg entities.
- International travel as needed.
ERP Specialist:
- Learn Visual ERP system to the level to help support the business and IT team in understanding what needs to be fixed if something isn’t working correctly. Help with troubleshooting and resolving problems. See the system in its entirety – specifically what and how it impacts the financials: inventory, cogs, sales.
- Willingness to develop a deep understanding of the ERP systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work across departments to address.
- Take responsibility, over time, for apg’s Visual system to ensure it supports the company’s goals efficiently.
- Ensure that the proper procedures are in place so that system data is maintained and accurate.
- Work with the IT team on modifications to the system and help train staff as needed.
- Performs other duties as required.

- Experience with Infor Visual software, preferred
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, and/or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of US GAAP, and CPA is preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing cost accounting
- Understanding of standard cost components and variances
