Job Summary

The Public Health intern will gain experience at the intersection of environmental / public health and the oil and gas industry. They will support projects involving risk management under TSCA, exposure scenarios, and cumulative impact assessments, focusing on data analysis, research, and regulatory advocacy. This role will develop the intern's skills in public health research, environmental science, and policy alignment.

Projects and Tasks

  • Ensure data quality by reviewing, organizing, and validating datasets from various sources.
  • Assist in developing and applying tools and methods for analyzing environmental and health data, including exposure scenarios and cumulative impacts.
  • Support integrating advanced technologies like GIS tools to enhance data visualization and pattern recognition.
  • Help prepare concise and accurate reports, charts, and presentations to communicate findings effectively.

Qualifications

  • Majoring or majored in : Public Health, Environmental Science or Environmental Health, Biology, Chemistry, or Toxicology, Policy Studies with an Environmental or Health Focus, Data Science (if applied to public health or environmental contexts)
  • Basic research skills, including literature reviews and data organization.
  • Familiarity with environmental or public health concepts (e.g., exposure pathways, risk assessments).
  • Knowledge of tools like Excel, GIS, or statistical software is a plus.
  • Interest in environmental regulations, and public health impacts.
  • Physical Requirements

  • Able to remain in a stationary position working on a computer
  • Move about the office to access office machinery, meeting rooms, etc.
  • Operate a computer and other office machinery such as printers and copy machines
  • Transport items and equipment up to 25 lbs. on occasion
  • Travel Requirements

  • Up to 25%
