Safety Systems Intern

Job Summary

Throughout the oil and gas industry, HSE professionals work to ensure that companies follow safety and environmental policies and procedures that ensure companies are both compliant with regulations but also to be responsible operators in the communities in which they operate. This includes implementation of some form of safety management system (e.g., OSHA's PSM, BSEE's SEMS, etc.).

API works to help companies implement and improve safety management across their organizations, coordinating assessments of facilities around the world to industry-created safety practices that align with one or more of API's standards.

This position with work with API's System Programs Team as well as the Center for Offshore Safety team (COS) in the ongoing work to maintain the safety programs currently in operation. Also, the intern will learn about new programs that are being worked on for industry.

Projects and Tasks

The API Safety Systems Intern will assist our diverse team with ongoing projects and new projects, working specifically on tasks that involve :

• Learning how API standards and programs help push industry safety (ongoing revision of safety related standards and programs)
• Standardization of internally produced safety reports and dashboards
• Standardization of industry good practice sharing documents for API safety programs
• Implementation of new safety programs within the oil and gas industry
• Data analysis and exploration of new quantification techniques for safety
• Exposure to how API programs help push industry safety
