Job title: Information Security Lead - Security Architecture & Engineering

Reports to: Cyber Security Leader – North America
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This leadership role oversees APi Group’s North America Security Architecture and Security Engineering teams. This crucial security pillar focuses on the design, build and oversight of security controls, defining the global cybersecurity architecture and methodologies, & driving risk reduction across the enterprise to improve the cyber hygiene and maturity of APi Group & its Operating Companies. This role has a direct influence on the organization’s global security strategy and roadmap as part of the global cyber leadership team.
- Lead North America Security Architecture and Engineering teams, offering oversight, mentorship, and growth opportunities for members.
- Collaborate with North America and International security teams to align with global security strategies and objectives.
- Serve as a trusted security advisor to APi Group's operating companies and IT teams, building strong relationships across corporate and community IT entities.
- Manage cyber efforts in APi’s IT Mergers & Acquisitions, providing security oversight and guiding integration strategies for newly acquired entities.
- Evolve and manage the Enterprise Security Architecture capability to align with IT and business requirements.
- Document and maintain security architecture patterns, standards, and frameworks to mitigate risks and drive modernization.
- Actively participate in the Architecture Review Board to provide security oversight and ensure compliance with best practices.
- Maintain security baselines, including regulatory frameworks (e.g., CIS, NIST) and enterprise system configurations.
- Oversee security engineering tasks, including designing, implementing, and maintaining security solutions and tools.
- Drive automation of security processes to reduce risks and improve efficiency across IT infrastructure.
- Work with IT engineering teams to effectively integrate security controls and remediation measures.
- Conduct and oversee IT risk assessments, identifying vulnerabilities and facilitating mitigation.
- Provide guidance to IT and business teams to ensure project designs adhere to security architecture and compliance goals.
- Continuously assess and recommend improvements to enhance security strategies and reduce organizational exposure.
- Advocate for security awareness throughout the organization, fostering a collaborative cybersecurity culture.
- Mentor IT and security staff to encourage continuous learning and professional development.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- 10 years of IT or Information Security experience, including 5 years in security leadership or architecture roles.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in IT, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or relevant GIAC certifications are highly desired.
- Extensive experience in security engineering, architecture, and compliance within complex environments.
- Proficient in MS Office and familiar with cloud technologies (e.g., Microsoft Azure).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical requirements to varied audiences.
- Expertise in network/server architecture, IT applications, firewalls, encryption, multi-factor authentication, and identity management.
- Knowledge of security frameworks and standards (e.g., CIS, NIST).
- Experience with incident monitoring and response, strong problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and detail-oriented, with a collaborative attitude.
- Flexible to occasionally work outside standard hours and travel occasionally (<5%).
This role will be based out of our New Brighton office. The pay range is $124k-187k, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for annual bonus and profit sharing based on company performance in addition to other benefits that support the total well-being of you and your family.
