What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Generalist position at APICII Hospitality?
Summary: The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with renowned APICII Hospitality Management Company’s Vice President of HR in carrying out responsibilities in the following functional areas: Policy implementation/communication, employee relations, employment law compliance, recruitment/employment, on-boarding, performance management, as well as other initiatives.
Success in this role will require influential partnership with middle and senior management to execute the HR strategies that foster organizational and people effectiveness.
This is a hybrid role and requires 25% travel to West Coast properties in other states.
Responsibilities:
- Assists APICII’s VP of HR, partnering with the Seattle Mariners, with all aspects of the HR function, including but not limited to developing & implementing new personnel policies and procedures, performance management/compensation initiatives, internal growth, and development initiatives, etc.
- Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems. Assist in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of the department in relation to established goals.
- Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, employee handbook, methods, and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organization values.
- Understand the entire talent system and each stage of the employee lifecycle and applies that understanding to craft integrated solutions that are thoughtful and reinforced by upstream and downstream talent programs
- Partners with management to strategically source talent. Handle recruitment, onboarding, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing
- Facilitates all in-house employee relations investigations and required documentation; provide coaching, counseling, outplacement support and exit interviewing
- Handles all payroll concerns & issues in conjunction with the payroll company and communicates appropriately to all departments as needed
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
Must Haves:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited university
- 5 years human resource business partner or generalist experience
- Union environment experience preferred
- Experience with hospitality labor laws and tips compliance [preferred]
- The desire and ability to be an influential and credible senior HR leader within the team, including setting the tone, agenda, and direction of the HR team and providing the necessary support, follow up, and leadership to ensure the team achieves desired results
- Solutions focused and be comfortable working in an environment which demands strong deliverables along with the ability to identify problems and drive appropriate solutions
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential (preferred)
- Bi-lingual English-Spanish (preferred)
- Proficiency in utilizing programs including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint), Hot Schedules and PMS software.
