Job Responsibilities:
- The candidate will be providing medium voltage electrical engineering design services for facilities, industrial plants, water and wastewater facilities, and airports. Individuals will work individually with the President, Chief Engineer providing guidance, and supervision. This role will also require the candidate to take the technical and project lead on projects and act as PM, lead other design engineers, and handle client relations.
- Your work will be based in a project team environment with other engineers and designers involved in the design, modification, and analysis of new and existing medium voltage electrical systems, electric power distribution design, and standby power generation.
- You will work on challenging assignments that include investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of electrical engineering issues.
- You will be the project lead in efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
- You will prepare and review detailed calculations, including three-phase power studies, short circuits, voltage drop, motor starting, and protective relay settings as well as prepare documentation for design input for drawing production.
- You will Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations and drawing preparation.
- Additionally, you will have Construction Management duties including shop drawing reviews, Inspections, as-built reviews, and Manual reviews.
Design Experience that you must have performed in the past:
- Design of underground duct banks.
- Design drawings depicting the routing of conduits from switchgear or MCC or switchboard to motors, AHUs (air handling units), unit heaters, valves, remote breaker control cabinets, transmitters, RTU cabinets, etc.
- Design of 15kV, 4.16kV and 480V switchgear.
- Design of 4.16kV and 480V VFDs.
- Design of 15kV and 5kV cables which manufacturers are you using? What insulation level 100% or 133%?
- Preparation of plans and elevations to show details.
- Preparation of cable and conduit schedules.
- Preparation of panelboard schedules.
- Experience in field investigations.
- Experience in working with construction contractors and owners to resolve electrical construction-related issues.
Required Education and/or Experience
- The person should be a self-starter and be able to hit the ground running.
- Past experience with client relations and communications.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (if Canadian-based PE license, must be willing to attain US certification once here in the US)
- A BSEE from an ABET-accredited university is the minimum educational level.
- 8 years is the minimum range of experience.
- Requires an individual with good judgment, discipline, dependability, and responsibility.
- Requires excellent verbal and writing skills to communicate effectively with clients, field engineers, peers, and management.
