About the Role:
The Payment Posting Specialist | Cash Posting Specialist ensures accurate and timely posting of payments from patients and insurance companies, playing a crucial role in the financial operations of healthcare organizations. Responsibilities include reconciling payments against patient accounts, impacting the organization's revenue cycle and overall financial health. The specialist works closely with billing and collections teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate transaction recording, contributing to the organization's ability to provide quality care through effective financial resource management.
We seek an experienced specialist proficient in:
- Ensuring proper reconciliation.
- Connecting operational RCM steps to accounting entries.
- Handling discrepancies between billed and collected amounts.
- Explaining the relationship between accounts receivable aging reports and month-end financial close.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Preference given to those with an Associate's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Proven experience in cash posting or a similar role within a healthcare setting.
- Experience with Credible electronic health record (EHR) systems and Oracle accounting system.
- Strong understanding of medical billing and coding processes.
Responsibilities:
- Post payments from patients and insurance companies to appropriate accounts in the billing system.
- Reconcile daily cash receipts, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in payment postings, including contacting payers and patients as necessary.
- Collaborate with billing and collections teams to address outstanding balances and improve collection efforts.
- Prepare and maintain reports related to cash postings and payment discrepancies for management review.
