Job Title: Director of Procurement and Strategic Sourcing
Location: Dallas, TX
Salary: $130,000 - $160,000
Position Summary:
The Director of Procurement and Strategic Sourcing will facilitate, own, and build upon the current sourcing, procurement, and inventory management strategies and processes. This role will lead the development and execution of procurement strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery across the organization. The Director will be responsible for managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring alignment with company goals and compliance standards. Additionally, this position will assist in interviewing and hiring other key roles within the growing department to sustain company growth and support internal product development.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the process of exploring the selection of available vendors and deciding which offers the optimal cost and quality for the company.
- Handle all vendor relationships and negotiate bids from multiple sources on behalf of the company.
- Facilitate supplier contract negotiations, reviews, and executions.
- Track and manage SLAs for our downstream vendors.
- Own and keep track of vendor warranty contracts.
- Execute and manage recurring vendor assessments based on supplier performance against criteria such as quality, cost, reliability, ability to innovate, and financial stability.
- Inspect the quality of supplier products.
- Handle product repairs, returns, and replacements with our vendors, whether through warranty claims or other means.
- Work closely with the finance team on budget tracking and procurement management for downstream vendors.
- Work with internal teams to ensure they are receiving the right product that meets their needs.
- Facilitate international and freight shipments.
- Manage inventory and restocking needs.
- Track deliveries and ensure supplies reach the correct owner.
- Handle implementation of key inventory management tools for the company.
- Continuously remain knowledgeable of emerging trends within the supply chain ecosystem.
- Mitigate risks for any supply chain issues by ensuring proper supplier backups.
- Collaborate with finance to build out the appropriate internal vendor, procurement, and inventory management infrastructure for the company.
- Hire, manage, train, and assess your team members as we continue to grow
What you’ll need:
- A degree in Engineering, Business Economics, Procurement Management, or a similar field is preferred. A relevant advanced degree is also a plus. However, 10 years of relevant, progressive experience may substitute for degrees.
- 8 years of progressive experience in vendor and procurement management, including 3 years of leadership experience in this area.
- 3 years of experience in supply chain, purchasing, and inventory management.
- Experienced in international customs clearance handling and logistics management.
- Comfortable working as part of a distributed team and communicating with technical and non-technical users.
- Ability to work quickly and solve problems.
- Excellent analytical reasoning and keen negotiating skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards for externally provided products and services is a plus.
- Knowledge of ISO 27001 standards for third-party security is a plus.

The Fine Print:
You also must be able to travel as needed (roughly 0-10% of your time). Depending upon where you live, potential travel locations include sites in the DFW area, Nashville, our corporate headquarters in Baltimore, or other locations as we continue to grow. In general, this is not a travel-centric role.
The physical requirements include prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer (though you can use the tech benefit to create whatever desk you’ll work best at).
