The Opportunity
The Transportation Engineer (EIT) is an entry-level Engineer-in-Training position that performs the role of Transportation Engineer on a variety of projects and assignments. Reporting to the Senior Transportation Engineer, the Transportation Engineer (EIT) position involves both technical and non-technical Transportation Engineering-related tasks involving traffic operations and road safety, traffic impact assessments, data analysis, parking management, multi-modal corridor planning, transit planning, transportation demand management (TDM), active transportation design, public engagement, and technical writing. The ability to use Synchro, Sidra, Vissim, Civil 3D, AutoTurn, and CAD is considered an asset although proficiency in all software programs is not required. Candidate will ideally have 2-4 years of engineering experience and can be located in BC or Alberta.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Effectively manage assigned projects using relevant design guidelines and transportation engineering industry best practices.
- Responsible for aspects of project management of assigned projects including budget tracking, tracking project progress, meeting project milestones in accordance with project schedule, managing scope, etc.
- Attend meetings with clients, contractors, municipal staff, and provincial staff and make notes and records of the outcomes of these meetings for project record purposes.
- Perform transportation-related policy research, data collection, and analysis.
- Perform intersection capacity analysis using micro-simulation (Synchro) software, prepare Traffic Impact Assessments and parking studies to support municipal infrastructure projects and land development projects.
- Multi-modal corridor conceptual design development.
- Collision data and road safety analysis.
- Perform analysis to support transit and active transportation (cycling, walking) improvement projects.
Skills & Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Registered as an EIT within BC.
- Valid Driver s License.
- Ability to work simultaneously on several different projects.
- Consistently able to produce accurate, high-quality work.
- Proficiency with Synchro, Microsoft Office, and CAD.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Aptitude for problem-solving, research, and technical writing.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $90,000 per year, commensurate with experience, skillsets, and qualifications.
