Key Responsibilities:
- Administer respiratory therapy treatments and procedures, including nebulizer treatments, chest physiotherapy, and mechanical ventilation.
- Perform assessments of patients' respiratory status and develop individualized care plans.
- Monitor and adjust ventilator settings based on patient response and physician orders.
- Provide emergency respiratory care, including airway management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
- Educate patients and their families on the proper use of respiratory equipment and techniques for managing respiratory conditions at home.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to optimize patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all respiratory care services provided.
- Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Current and valid Respiratory Therapist (RT) license in the state of Iowa.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a respiratory therapy role, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting respiratory therapy equipment.
- Experience in critical care, including the management of ventilators and other advanced respiratory support systems.
- Pediatric and adult respiratory care experience.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- This is a 13-week contract position with a night shift schedule from 19:00 to 07:30.
- Candidates must be flexible and adaptable to the dynamic needs of the healthcare environment.
- COVID-19 vaccination is required as per facility guidelines.
