POSITION CONCEPT
The Compute and Storage Architect is responsible for designing implementing and managing compute and storage solutions that support enterprise systems. This role requires a deep understanding of compute and storage technologies and the ability to architect solutions that are secure scalable and resilient. The Architect will work with development teams and other stakeholders to provide architecture leadership and best practices. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of virtualization compute architecture and storage design and will be able to translate architectural designs into actionable plans for the build team.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the implementation of enterprisewide compute and storage infrastructure initiatives and solutions.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support existing and future solutions.
Ensure design standards are uniformly followed across the organization.
Provide detailed documentation of new architecture and design.
Lead the design architecture and implementation of onpremises compute and storage infrastructure using VMware vSphere and Cisco UCS hardware.
Develop highlevel and lowlevel architecture designs including detailed diagrams documentation and configuration specifications.
Collaborate with other teams (networking security etc.) to ensure seamless integration and alignment with organizational goals.
Architect and integrate Cisco UCS compute solutions including UCS Manager blades chassis fabric interconnects and service profiles.
Certification
Certifications : VMware Certified Professional (VCP) Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higherlevel certifications in VMware and Cisco technologies.
Automation : Experience with automation tools (e.g. Ansible PowerShell Terraform) for infrastructure provisioning and management.
Experience
Experience with cloud technologies (Azure AWS Google Oracle) is a plus.
VMware vSphere : Deep expertise in architecting and managing VMware vSphere environments (ESXi vCenter DRS vMotion storage integration etc.).
Cisco UCS : Extensive experience in designing and managing Cisco UCS environments including UCS Manager blades fabric interconnects and service profiles.
Storage Solutions : Knowledge of enterprise storage solutions and protocols (iSCSI NFS Fibre Channel etc.) including storage design for VMware environments.
Architecture Documentation : Proven ability to create clear actionable architecture designs and detailed documentation for build teams.
Personal Attributes
Strong problemsolving skills and ability to work in a fastpaced collaborative environment.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal to effectively interact with technical teams and stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
Top 5 Priorities
1. Attend ARB and IT project meetings to determine scope and create server build sheet to be handed over to build team. This may range from VM builds within the enterprise to include the purchase of hardware.
2. Work on vSphere lifecycle needs to eliminate vSphere 7 from the environment.
3. Installing vSphere 8 hosts and configuring them for workload migrations
4. Work on hardware lifecycle needs across the enterprise
5. Work on operating system lifecycle needs across the enterprise
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is onsite with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote. May need to travel to different sites within the Tampa Electric Territory.
