Job Summary :
The Medical Assistant II (MA) is responsible for maintaining a highly professional environment, ensuring a collaborative relationship with patients and physicians across virtual and in person care for the Compass clinic. The MA will assist with the nonclinical tasks required to ensure smooth patient access and flow.
Job Responsibilities :
This includes but is not limited to the following tasks : Scheduling patients which can include follow up office visits, imaging and lab work, preparation of appropriate chart elements, checking vital signs, rooming patients both virtually and in person, and assisting with procedures.
The nonclinical responsibilities of this position would also include preauthorization process and acting as a liaison between the providers and patient.
The Medical Assistant will work collaboratively with staff to ensure all proper records are received and all appropriate testing is completed prior to appointment / surgery date.
The Medical Assistant will provide updates to the staff and patients on timing and status for all the above tasks that could have an impact on the patient's health and / or testing and treatment options.
Ensures even patient flow and continuous communication within Hoag and referring physician offices.
This person will be comfortable with digital technology and the use of the Compass app and Epic for managing patient care.
Required Skills & Experience :
Must have four (4) years' experience in Primary care.
Ability to anticipate provider needs / critical thinking skills that come from experience.
Please note specific qualifications for this role supporting the Compass Team :
Experience in a busy practice managing a minimum of 20 patients a day across lab draws, injections, and rooming
Familiar with digital technology and / or app to facilitate patient care and provider visits, as this role may be required to help patients troubleshoot app issues when logging onto virtual visits
Comfortable taking blood samples through a finger prick for DNA testing
Ability to juggle multiple tasks at a time in this role the MA Lead may be supporting the MA, drawing blood, and then immediately need to room a patient
Policy adherence and strong understanding of clinical roles as it pertains to an MA, clinical rules and regulations, patient documentation, and privacy laws
Well versed in patient EHRs, specifically Epic
Required Education :
High school graduate or equivalent GED.
Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program.
Required Certifications & Licensure :
Current BLS Certification (from AHA)
Preferred Certifications & Licensure :
Medical Assistant Certification.
CPR certification.
