Microbiology Technician
Job Summary:
Apollo Labs is seeking a full-time Microbiology Technician to join our team in Scottsdale, AZ. We are seeking a highly motivated and detailed oriented individual to work with our microbiology and intake departments. Your role will involve aseptically process samples and assisting in our primary microbial assays. As a Microbiology Technician, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Precisely weighing and processing of samples for microbial assays, adhering to aseptic techniques and established protocols.
- Preparing and enriching samples for microbial analysis, including preparation of broths and media to support microbial growth.
- Assist in conducting a variety of microbial assays, including traditional plating and PCR analysis, to identify and quantify microorganisms.
- Collaborating with the intake department to ensure efficient accessioning of orders, accurately recording sample information, and maintaining proper documentation according to the AZDHS guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory quality control standards and assist in maintaining a clean and organized laboratory environment.
- Daily setup of workspaces including routine decontamination of workspaces and equipment, verification of balances and temperature logs, organizing and staging orders, etc.
- Accurately record and maintain data and results, contributing to the generation of comprehensive reports.
- Working with laboratory management to count and order supplies for the laboratory.
- Ensure completion of testing of client samples within the required turnaround time.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in microbiology, biology, chemistry, or a related field.
- Previous relevant laboratory experience may substitute for a degree.
- Strong aseptic technique skills and attention to detail.
- Compliance and record-keeping experience.
- Intake and Inventory control experience.
- Familiarity with microbial laboratory equipment and techniques.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
- Strong organization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure.
- Adherence to laboratory safety protocols and practices.
- Strong Working experience with Microsoft Excel.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Access to reliable transportation.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and have a US citizenship.
- Must be comfortable working in a laboratory setting.
- Applicant willing to work weekends and be flexible with schedule to address high sample volume will be considered first.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
